It’s been over a year since Alexa Plus first announced. Since then, the advanced AI assistant has spread across Echo devices and even got its own special site. Now the large language model finds a new home on Amazon.com and in the search bar of the mobile app.

The e-commerce giant announced On Wednesday, it’s launching Alexa for shopping. This new search experience will combine the context and personalization capabilities of Alexa Plus with Rufus, a shopping assistant bot that aggregates product reviews and offers purchase suggestions. As a result, Alexa for Shopping will also replace Rufus.

When the tool is launched, you will be able to ask questions in the search bar or in a special chat window. Depending on the context of your query, AI will offer purchase suggestions, shopping guides, product comparisons, product reviews and even up to a year of product price history. You’ll also be able to use the tool to plan routine purchases, shop online at other retailers, tell Alexa to add something to your cart, and ask for details about family members or pets.

“Alexa for shopping is like having an expert personal shopper who already knows you, remembers your preferences, past purchases and conversations, and brings that knowledge and understanding to your phone, laptop and Echo devices,” said Rajiv Mehta, vice president of conversational shopping at Amazon. “Whether you’re comparing products, tracking price drops, or continuing research you started yesterday, there’s no need to start over.”

In addition to the rollout of Alexa for shopping, Amazon has announced that it is bringing the full shopping experience to its Echo Show devices. Now you’ll be able to browse, search, and shop the full Amazon website on these smart speakers with displays. Previously, browsing options were limited by Alexa’s limited shopping capabilities.

Alexa for shopping is expected to be available to users in the US next week. If you don’t see the new tool, Amazon recommends updating the app. You can access the new search experience by tapping the Alexa icon in the bottom navigation bar. For website visitors, this icon will appear at the top of the page.
