It’s a stretch at this point, but we’re finally seeing signs of Android Auto’s live speedometer support rolling out.
Google Maps took many years to launch support for speed limitsbut it took longer to bring up a live speedometer to show your current speed in Android Auto. The reason is not as clear as Google In July 2024, Apple introduced this support for CarPlayand has been streaming live on Android phones for a long time.
Finally, it looks like we’re making progress.
At least a few Android Auto users about Reddit report the speedometer seeing them appear on the dash. This user is located in Canada and was using software version 26.29.02.946673643, which is available in beta.
We haven’t seen it on our side yet, and there are no other reports either. Therefore, at least for now, we cannot say that it is widespread. But then years it’s great to wait and see it finally happen. As with any Android Auto feature, it may take a long time to roll out.
