Anthropic has received permission to release Claude Mythos 5 to more than 100 US businesses

Those talks yielded their first results this evening, with the government partially lifting restrictions and allowing Anthropic to “release it to more than 100 US entities, including large companies and government agencies.” Traffic lights.

“I have determined that there are appropriate safeguards in place to allow certain trusted partners access to the Claude Mythos 5 Model,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick wrote to Anthropic chief computing officer Tom Brown, noting that “significant progress” has been made in intensive, day-to-day talks between the government and the company since the block went into effect.

Right now, there’s no word on when (or if) Anthropic customers can expect Claude Fable 5 to be released either. Traffic lights “Fable is silent on 5,” Lutnick’s letter said, but the report notes that “people close to the negotiations said they are moving toward releasing Fable, though a timeline for that is unclear.”

Update, 9:05 p.m. ET: a post At X, Anthropic confirmed the news, saying the company “continues to work with the government to expand access to Mythos 5 and bring Fable 5 back into general use.”
