Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says Apple’s WWDC26 artwork has already given us our first look at the new design for Siri, which was introduced as part of iOS 27. Apple’s voice assistant will finally get the makeover it deserves in iOS 27, with lots of new functionality and a new look.
Gurman says the new Siri design includes visual elements similar to the glow effect seen in the WWDC26 poster art. The iPhone is said to be most striking when used in dark mode, which is why the WWDC art uses a black background.
While designs may change by June, this is the approach Apple is going with. Gurman says that when the new Siri is launched, it comes out of the Speaker Island of the iPhone screen.
The extended pill glows like WWDC artwork. The text field search bar in the new standalone Siri app also gets this visual treatment.
That’s what a gourmet is describes:
Siri’s new look is what Apple highlighted in its teaser. The design, which is currently being tested in-house, includes the Siri interface inside the Dynamic Island, a pill-shaped element at the top of the screen. When Siri is activated, the name expands with a command that says “Search or Ask” accompanied by a glowing cursor. This is similar to how the “26” is highlighted in the conference logo.
In addition to the static artwork, the glow effects were also shown in a video posted by Apple VP Greg Joswiak when the date for this year’s WWDC was announced:
This will be the second time Apple has redesigned Siri during the LLM era, with the first Apple Intelligence incarnation centered on a rainbow lighting effect around the edge of the screen. This design first shipped in iOS 18. But since the features intended for that version of Siri failed to arrive in time, Apple seems to have gone back to the drawing board.
The new Siri in iOS 27 will bring the experience more in line with other modern AI chatbots. Users will have to constantly chat back and forth, make multiple requests in one go, and deliver the previously promised integration of personal context and on-screen awareness. Siri’s brain will be built on new foundational models Using Google Gemini technology.
There will also be a separate Siri app where users can find their previous conversations. Separate search interfaces in Siri and Spotlight are also expected to be unified.
The new Siri is expected to be a major new feature of iOS 27, which Apple will preview at its annual WWDC conference in June. The main speech of this year’s event will take place on June 8.
