Apple has reportedly ordered 10 million foldable iPhone Ultra models, which can sell for around $2,500


According to a new report, Apple plans to produce and sell around 10 million foldable iPhone Ultra models. That’s about a third more than previously expected average construction targets.

This was reported by Nikkei Asia Apple has raised its foldable iPhone production target to around 10 million units. Previous estimates ranged from 7 to 8 million units.

Apple has advised its suppliers to prepare to produce about 10 million foldable iPhones this year, sources familiar with the matter said.

The report adds that another 70 million units will consist of the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

According to the report, an additional 80 million new iPhone models to be introduced in the second half of 2026 will bring the total number ordered for the year to 220 million. IDC recently predicted that Apple will ship about 240 million iPhones in 2026.

The report further states that Apple has told some suppliers to expect 85 million new iPhone orders in the second half of 2026.

Apple has given some suppliers a forecast of up to 85 million new iPhones for the second half of 2026 and has told suppliers to reserve some common components and parts used in the iPhone 17 series for the upcoming iPhone 18 premium series, sources said, adding that the US tech giant is moving aggressively to preserve components amid ongoing shortages.

As for the first foldable iPhone, Apple is expected to tag it with a hefty price tag. IDC recently predicted that the average selling price of the iPhone Ultra would be $2,500, with storage options up to $3,000.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable iPhone Ultra in September. The foldable iPhone could follow the iPhone 18 Pro models, although it is still expected to arrive this year.

Meanwhile, Apple is not expected to replace the standard iPhone 17 with the iPhone 18 until the spring. This could extend the iPhone 17’s life on the market to around 18 months from the usual 12-month cycle. Likewise, Apple is expected to upgrade the iPhone Air, which it introduced in September 2025, with a new model in the spring of 2026.
