Apple introduces new subscription packages coming to the App Store

Earlier this year, Apple launched a new subscription option in the App Store: Monthly plans with 12 month commitments. Now at WWDC this week, Apple introduced another new subscription option: bundles for app subscriptions from multiple developers.

Third-party apps will soon be able to partner on the App Store and offer subscription packages

WWDC 2026 is happening all week, and one of the announcements for developers is a new option to collaborate with other software makers on subscription packages.

From Apple’s developer site:

Help people get more value from your auto-renewing subscriptions between apps with new Bundle and Suite configuration options. With Bundles, people can access multiple subscriptions in one subscription using Apple In-App Purchases instead of purchasing each one individually. Or, configure a Suite that allows you to offer a set of subscriptions that aren’t available independently that people can purchase as a single subscription using Apple In-App Purchase.

Apple says, “Additional information on how to access Subscription Bundle and Suite functionality will be available later this summer.”

Developers were previously able to bundle their own apps, but with this change, developers will be able to create a subscription package that includes their own apps and those of others.

Per TechCrunch: “Instead of just aggregating apps within their own catalog, developers can collaborate with each other to create bundles of apps that are cheaper than if the user had to purchase a separate subscription to each app.”

The idea is that if multiple apps appeal to a very similar user base, it might make sense to come together to offer an attractive bundle at a discount. This happens a lot with streaming services like Apple TV’s bundle with Peacock allows you to add a streamer for just $2 per month.

Bundles tend to have better user retention than standalone subscriptions, which is another reason developers might be interested.
