ASUS’ Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand turns 20 this year, and to celebrate, the company has launched the 20th Anniversary Edition. PLEASE Harp II Extreme A gaming mouse at Computex.
I was lucky enough to get a new one Issue 20 mouse a few weeks before the announcement, so I’ve had plenty of time to do a lot of real-world testing. If the idea of a gold-plated mouse tickles your fancy, read on to find out if it’s worth buying.

How much is the ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20?
The new ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 mouse debuts for $259.99. Available both at Best Buy and for pre-order Neweggand is expected to be fully operational on July 19.
Once launched, it will also be available on Amazon and Micro Center.
Considering the regular ROG Harpe II Ace on which this special Edition 20 is based, it costs about $170you look about aa $90 difference in value.
What’s in the box?
Along with the ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 mouse, the custom display includes the ROG SpeedNova 8K receiver and extender, ROG paracord, grip tape, extra mouse slides, stickers, cleaning cloth, and documentation.
What I love about the ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20
Based on the new ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 Harp II Needles Like the ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20 keyboard, it’s been given a facelift with gold accents, upgraded internals and special anniversary branding.
A seamless design that is comfortable to hold
The Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 has been on my desk for several weeks now for gaming and work, and it’s as comfortable to hold at the start of the day as it is at the end.
The sidewalls are slightly tapered to fit my fingers and are perfectly shaped to fit snugly under my palm. It’s the perfect size for me, although I can see it being a bit big for those with smaller hands.
It’s as comfortable to hold at the end as it is at the beginning of the day.
I was concerned about how smooth the outer transparent shell would be while gaming, but ASUS covers this issue with grip stickers that you can add as needed.
The shell of the mouse is primarily semi-transparent black to help show off its internals. It’s a little busy on the outside with the extra ROG branding in honor of the anniversary, but that’s the point.
Gold plated interior… with RGB lighting
The biggest aesthetic upgrade you get here comes in the form of a real 24K gold-plated inner metal frame.
The layered design helps give the mouse’s internals some depth beneath the transparent shell, and it’s finished off with an RGB 20th Anniversary ROG logo in the middle of the main internal plate. This logo connects to other RGB via Aura Sync.
Despite the new design, the mouse still weighs only 82 grams. It’s one of the lighter mice I’ve used, and although I’m used to it now, it would be nice if the weight was adjustable like other high-end mice.
Swipe, click and swipe
The black color of the mouse is nicely offset by the golden scroll wheel and metallic side buttons. I had no problem with any of the three inputs; the side buttons are perfectly positioned for easy thumb control and the scroll wheel is smooth yet tactile.
ASUS uses ROG Optical Micro switches below the main mouse buttons, giving the mouse an incredibly responsive feel. I’ve also found when playing FPS games that this greatly reduces the likelihood of double-clicking, most noticeable when firing a rifle set on full auto.

These keys are also very durable, with ASUS requiring 100 million clicks before the keys wear out. Not bad.
Hovering over the mouse reveals stylized slides in front and behind the mouse. These are made from Gorilla Glass for added durability (there’s nothing worse than your slides wearing out before the mouse is finished), but also makes the mouse super smooth.
Here you’ll also find DPI and pairing buttons, as well as a switch for switching 2.4 GHz (via SpeedNova 8K dongle), Bluetoothor wired connection. The mouse does not have dongle memory; Instead, ASUS says to use a (bulky) plastic case in transit.
The high-performance sensor you want for competitive gaming
I’m getting too old to have a real shot at competitive gaming, but I can say that the ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 gave me my best shot.
ASUS has the best ROG AimPoint Pro 65K sensor on board 65,000 DPIadjustable takeoff distance (LOD). 0.7 mm for 1.7 mmmaximum acceleration 70g and maximum speed 800 inches per second (IPS).
ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 gave me the best.
The mouse also allows me to adjust the voting speed 1000 Hz all the way up 8000 Hzwhich only provides above 0.2 ms delay even when using wireless.
I didn’t need it for my purposes, but there is a Zone mode for competitive players. It quickly locks the mouse to the top settings so you can jump into the game without a lot of tweaking after work.
Battery life is excellent
ASUS uses something called dynamic wireless transmission power to improve battery life, and claims the mouse can do just that. 195 hours With a rate of 1K votes. I haven’t hit that limit yet, but in the two weeks I’ve had it, I haven’t had to charge the mouse yet.
If you bump it up to 8K resolution, battery life drops by approx 37 hours. Still, it’s a respectable number that doesn’t reach for the cable before every gaming session.
What I didn’t like about the ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20
ASUS really did a great job overhauling their flagship mouse for ROG’s 20th anniversary, and there are a few nitpicks I’d like to point out.
One is the smooth feel of the shell. Yes, ASUS includes a grip tape, but attaching it to the mouse detracts from the overall glossy look.
Another nitpick is the lack of a built-in USB port on the mouse. I don’t want to carry around a bulky plastic bag in a bag, and I don’t want to throw an empty lock in there either.
Finally, I can’t go without mentioning the price. I know this mouse is for ROG fanatics who want to help celebrate 20 years of gaming service, and I understand that its performance is superior to the ROG Harpe II Ace on which it is based.
He asks again $259.99 it’s a little steep for a mouse, especially when you’re already dropping $600 on a compatible keyboard.
Should you buy the ASUS ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 mouse?
You should buy it if…

Like a brother I reviewed the ASUS ROG Azoth Extreme Edition 20 keyboardthe new ROG Harpe II Extreme Edition 20 is a special accessory not meant for the masses. That at least helps explain the price.
If you’re a ROG fan (or just love the idea of a gaming mouse with extra flash), I promise you’re in for one hell of a device. Sure, it has a few minor flaws, but overall it’s a gaming mouse that has every high-performance feature I can think of.
It’s comfortable to hold (if a little slick without the grip stickers), the buttons respond and feel nice and snappy as you’d expect, and it has just the right amount of sensor and feedback to respond to even the fastest reactions.
