Dave Filoni talks his plan for the future of Star Wars

Over the past 10 years The Lucasfilm team tried to do way more Star Wars movies than it actually is. There really is for every movie that hits theaters probably three or four that we know that did not see the light of day. Now, with two new presidents at Lucasfilm, all of that is set to change. The future Star Wars is a big question mark.

This that starts to change next week with the release The Mandalorian and Grogu. The film was produced and co-written by newcomer Dave Filoni Presidents of Lucasfilm (with Lynven Brennan)and in a new interview, he talked about how he’s approaching the future of the franchise he now oversees.

“I just look at the stories and the potential and plan what I want to do,” Filoni said Collider. “I believe in having a general idea and then saying, ‘Okay, there’s this much, and then we can own it.’ There are some things that are already in motion that I obviously want to continue. Jon (Favreau) and I have been a great partnership for years telling stories. So I look at the stories that I kind of plan and architect and I look at other creative talents that bring us great stories and just try to find a way to make them all work.”

As things stand, then The Mandalorian and Grogu, next Star Wars the media to be broadcast is Filoni’s own show, Ahsoka. Preparing for the second season Debuts on Disney+ in early 2027. After that, it will be in May 2027 star wars: starfighter, a fully independent adventure directed by Shawn Levy and starring Ryan Gosling.

After that? Let’s look at the quote from Filoni. He says, “There are some things that are already in motion that I obviously want to continue.” It probably refers to to the planned trilogy by Simon Kinberg, rumored to be converted Episodes X, XIand XII. These films may include director Sharmeen Obaid-Chino’s work on Ray.

Other films that have been announced, such as James Mangold and Taika Waititi, are still technically on the table. While these fit Filoni’s quote, we think his discussion of the stories he did with Favreau is more telling. This certainly indicates that the Mandalorian and Grogu’s adventures will continue, as well as Ahsoka’s.

Honestly, this is a very classic Filoni quote. It says nothing but means everything. We’re guessing we won’t get any more official information until August of this year, at the D23 Expo, or until April 2027. Star Wars Holiday.

What do you think next? Star Wars the movie will be later Star fighter? Do you believe in Filoni’s vision?
