Out of the 40 or so movies released in the last 20 years, more than 30 superhero movies are believed to be released this December. Avengers: Judgment Day It could be the ultimate test of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 2019 year Avengers: Endgame was a thing, but it’s been Marvel ever since introduced many additional characters and the concepts that are the perspective of all these pays in the new one Avengers movie it boggles the mind. But as it turns out, it may not really matter.
Speaking at SXSW London this week, Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo have called their upcoming film “Phase Zero” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “This series changes, changes and surprises you, then reinvents itself, then changes and changes and then surprises you – it’s exciting and I think you’re going to see some volatility and change. Doomsday),” he said via Joe Russo The Hollywood Reporter. “So get ready for that. Look, we were with Rob (Downey Jr.) earlier today. We were both talking about the concept that we’re going back to phase zero. It’s starting from scratch. We want to make sure that everybody feels that it’s not based on anything from the past.”
Thus DoomsdayThe 39th film in the MCU, which brings back Robert Downey Jr. as the main villain, as well as Chris Evans, who is thought to be retiring as Steve Rogers, “isn’t it based on anything from the past?” Wasn’t that supposed to be part of Phase Six of the story and now you call it Phase Zero? This is wild. You’d imagine you could combine new and old characters from Fox X-Men universe, Deadpool vs. Wolverine, Fantastic Four: First Steps, Lightning, Shangchi and Black Panther: Always Wakandato mention just a few will require at least some prior knowledge of these stories. But the bottom line is that it won’t happen.
We have no idea how this is possible, but in theory it’s probably a smart approach. It’s clear that Marvel Studios is at a crossroads after its last few releases failed to live up to its incredibly high expectations. So there’s probably a balance of giving fans who have stuck with the franchise as many of the characters and stories they love, while also not alienating fans who haven’t seen everything. It’s just surprising because this isn’t usually a Marvel playbook.
And in fact, this original playbook returns just one year later. The Russians are still working on it Avengers: Judgment Day They have also started pre-production on its sequel for a December 18th release, Avengers: Secret Wars, is scheduled to be released a year later Doomsday In December 2027.
“Now the stories we’re focusing on are complete,” Anthony Russo said Deadline. “Doomsday and Secret Wars it speaks to each other like two films and creates a complete statement. Whether or not we all collaborate with Marvel beyond that is definitely a possibility, but right now the vision, the story vision is just that Secret Wars.”
