EcoFlow has announced a new set of compact, 45W portable power banks for its RAPID line. In addition to being powerful enough to partially charge a laptop with a decent clip, one of them, the $70 RAPID 3-in-1 Power Bank (10K, 45W, Retractable Cable + AC Plug), has its own retractable USB-C cable and built-in, two-prong AC plug, as the name suggests.
RAPID 3-in-1 is like an upgraded version of the company previous 35W model it didn’t have a retractable cable. With its built-in cable and single USB-C port, it can charge itself from a wall outlet while outputting just 45W to two devices, and has a display that shows battery and charging status. It has the same 10,000mAh capacity as the 35W version, but its more powerful 45W output can make it convenient in a pinch when you’re traveling and need to juice up your smartphone quickly. EcoFlow said it can charge iPhone 17 Pro Max Up to 50% in 20 minutes.
That 10,000mAh capacity isn’t enough to fully charge a laptop, or even close to it, after heat loss and the like, but it should do it quickly enough for whatever it can give you. Weighing less than a pound and measuring 4.5 inches long and about two inches deep, it should travel pretty well.
EcoFlow’s other power bank, simply called the RAPID Power Bank (10K, 45W, Retractable), is similar – it also has a retractable USB-C cable – but lacks an AC plug and lets you charge three devices simultaneously with a 45W USB-C port and a 22.5W USB-A port. It costs $42.
EcoFlow is far from the only company selling a wall adapter and power bank hybrid. There is also one that is similar but costs more than $90. Anker Prime Power Bank Fusionoffers a higher 65W output, but no internal cable. Then there is Charge Discho Hybrid Power Bankwith a retractable cable and sleek, semi-transparent design (seems inspired by Braun Audio 300 Turntable), looks way cooler than EcoFlow’s innocuous, outdated plugin brick. At $50, the Sharge Disco is cheaper, but only puts out 30 watts of power.
