Eddy Cue accepts the Entertainer of the Year Award at the Cannes Lions


Today, Apple’s VP of Services and Health, Eddy Cue, received the 2026 Entertainer of the Year award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Here are the details.

Cue was named Entertainer of the Year

Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity last month announced Eddy Cue will be the recipient of this year’s Entertainer of the Year Award.

At the time, Cannes Lions CEO Simon Cook said:

Eddy Cue has consistently pushed the boundaries of entertainment and storytelling, building platforms and experiences that redefine audience engagement with culture. Under his leadership, Apple not only produced world-class content, but also shaped the future of entertainment through an unwavering commitment to innovation, creativity and quality. We are delighted to announce Eddie as our 2026 Entertainer of the Year.

Earlier tonight, Cue accepted the award at the festival’s opening ceremony, hours after the festival’s keynote speech alongside producer Jerry Bruckheimer.Armageddon, National Treasure).

On accepting the award, Cue said:

“We never tried to be the most. We tried to be the best. When we started Apple TV about seven years ago we said, let’s build a place that allows the world’s best storytellers to do their best work. (…) Stories can make you laugh, cry, think and many other emotions. They unite us. Between languages, between cultures, in everything. That’s what we’re all about at Apple, so stay tuned for more. We are just starting.”

Apple added that under Cue, “Apple TVlaunched more than six years ago as an all-original streaming platform, it has grown into one of the industry’s most award-winning and culture-defining services.

In a keynote session earlier in the day, Cue and Bruckheimer made no secret of Apple’s intention to do something else. F1 movie. From The Hollywood Reporter:

Cue and Bruckheimer sold the sequel to their hit movie F1 again on Monday. “We’ll come back and hopefully do another F1,” producer Bruckheimer told the audience, mentioning his name. F1 and Top Gun: Maverick directed by Joseph Kosinski. (…)

Cue later added: “We’re going to do it again. Hopefully, we’re doing another one Formula 1 movie. I think everyone wants to see someone else. It was the biggest Brad Pitt movie of all time. … It was a great story, it was fun, and you loved it when you left the theater or watched it at home.”

The two also discussed future collaborations between Bruckheimer and F1 Movie directed by Joseph Kosinski Apple TVUFO conspiracy thriller. From Deadline:

“All the President’s people are kind of talking about what the government is hiding. and (All these years of UAPs, unknown anomalous events),” Bruckheimer said. “We found these two gentlemen who worked for the government and couldn’t quite understand what was going on, and when they saw these anomalies, they asked a lot of questions and a lot of doors were closed.”
