While much of the video game development process is kept relatively quiet and only known to the public through investigative reporting, some developers have shared their personal experiences and provided valuable insight over the years. One such game developer is none other than Tim Kane, creator of the post-apocalyptic sci-fi IP. Fallout has become one of the most beloved RPGs in the genre.
For the past three years, Cain has kept personal YouTube channel Based on this, he has graced countless viewers with an ocean of game development stories, experiences, and advice for future creators to keep in mind as they pursue their dream of creating games.

As for what it is will be to be? Ultimately, any suggestion at this point is nothing more than speculation, though if I had to guess, I’d say I’d expect either an entirely new IP or a new entry in a franchise he hasn’t worked on before. No matter what Given Cain’s (and Obsidian’s) genre of experience, I’d be surprised if the game wasn’t an RPG.
As for his channel, Cain says he’s running out of topics to talk about, and at this point he’s managed to get through the process of answering the many questions he’s received about development over time while covering other topics and stories from his career.
“Looks like I’m running out of topics. Just wanted to point out that the channel is probably getting to the point where I’ll see this done,” he said. “I think I explained the game industry as well as I could, told all my stories, the fun ones and the not-so-fun ones, and you heard them all.”
“I think there is a chance the fourth The anniversary video is small,” Cain added. “It’s not zero, (but it’s) certainly not 100%. … This channel has been operating for three years. It’s been a long time, probably about 12 times longer than I thought.”
Ultimately, I’ll be sad to see Cain’s channel come to an end, as it’s been a real pleasure listening to him talk about a wide variety of game development topics over the past few years. However, I’ll always appreciate that he was able to do it – and I’m excited to see and play the last game he does before he retires completely.
