Marvel’s Wolverine It recently released a new cinematic trailer, featuring an awesome epic montage of superhero Wolverine briefly sparring with his longtime nemesis Sabretooth while killing bad guys.
However, fans are hardly positive about the game itself, as the trailer’s comments section on YouTube is filled with negative comments slamming it. Sony for killing physical game discs for future PlayStation games.
Most of the comments are your typical angry posts asking for it Sony cancel the decision to cancel the game discs. However, the vast majority of them mock Sony for his actions using jokes “Wolverine was really getting his PHYSICS in this trailer; he has a very distinct presence”.
The funniest of these comments “Wolverine’s Treasured Photo Shows Importance of Physical Media”. This is a reference to a scene in the trailer that shows a photo of Wolverine and someone they are about to burn to ashes.
It pits our hero against the bad guys for destroying it, and fans took it as an unwitting commentary on the dire state of physical media in the gaming industry and used it to mercilessly clown Sony.
Xbox can and should find a way to offer an alternative
Lately, Sony seems to have gone crazy with wanting to destroy physical media, with what Closure of PlayStation 3 and PSVita digital stores, Delisting of over 500 films from UK customers without refundand, most recently, it does Buying physical anime and manga through Crunchyroll is harder and more expensive.
That is, if the companies like it KFC and Domino’s Pizza mock Sony you know something has gone terribly wrong to kill physical media.
Now it is allowed, most likely Xbox Helix will also discard physical disks. However, Microsoft is working on a custom A digital program from disk called ‘Positron’ and there is a chance to find a way to protect disc-based games without forcing consumers to resort to piracy.
What’s more, this tumultuous backlash Sony is facing could give Xbox its first opportunity to one-up PlayStation in probably decades, offering gamers a consumer-friendly alternative to Sony’s bleak future for digital media on PlayStation.
Only time will tell what the future holds for Microsoft and Sony. Again, I will be in the meantime Praying for Marvel’s Wolverine to land on PC and maybe Xbox one day (although both are highly unlikely) because it looks too awesome to be on a single platform.
