Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 series brings some new camera setups and some improvements, but nothing quite lives up to the ‘Ultra’ branding.
Korean edition SisaJournal It has reported that Samsung’s next-generation foldable devices are in full series production, and the camera details are broken down as follows:
Galaxy Z Fold 8
- 50MP primary camera
- 50MP ultra wide
- 10MP selfie (x2)
Galaxy Z Fold 8 ‘Ultra’
- 200 MP main camera
- New: 50MP ultra wide
- 10MP telephoto
- 10MP selfie (x2)
Galaxy Z Flip 8
- 50MP primary camera
- 12MP ultra wide
There’s really only one improvement here, with a new 50MP sensor behind the ultra-wide camera on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Other than that, it’s business as usual. And compared to the Galaxy S26 Ultra, it’s hard not to see that its foldable counterpart lags far behind in the camera department. Physical limitations clearly play a key role, but this branding is still difficult to accept, even though It is clear what Samsung has decided.
The report adds that the Ultra’s 200MP camera uses Samsung’s ISOCELL HP2 sensor, while other sensors will be provided by Namuga, Powerlogics, MCnex and Camsys on the Z Fold devices. Meanwhile, the Flip 8 gets camera sensors from Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Powerlogics and China’s Sunny Optical, as well as a new arrival at its Coasia branch. Samsung previously worked with this brand on camera sensors under the display.
