The gradual rollout of Gemini on Chrome continues with a UK launch today.
On Mac, Windows, and Chromebook Plus, you can launch Gemini on Chrome from the upper right corner of any window. It’s joined by a keyboard shortcut, the Mac menu bar, or the Windows system tray, while you can right-click on a page to “Ask Twins” in the context menu.
Twins open as a sidebar or floating window next to what you’re browsing. To customize with Settings > Appearance > Sidebar position, which lets you choose left or right, go to Chrome Settings > Innovations > Twins in Chrome.
Gemini in Chrome can be used to:
- “…summarize long content or compare data across multiple tabs.”
- “… integrated with popular Google apps, meaning you can schedule appointments with the calendar, check location details with the map, draft emails with Gmail, and ask questions about YouTube videos, all without leaving the page you’re on.”
- “… uses Nano Banana 2’s capabilities to convert images from the web with a simple text query.”
After the US came Gemini on Chrome Canada, India and New Zealand in March, with Asia Pacific a month later. The last expansion was in June Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
Gemini will be the first for desktop Chrome users in the UK, with Chrome support for iOS coming next month.
