Gemini software for Mac adds ‘Spark’ agent, voice control this summer


At I/O 2026, Google previewed two key features for its Gemini app on macOS, coming this summer.

Google introduced native Mac software in Aprilwith a “small team” using Anti-gravity to help develop.

Gemini spark It’s your personal AI agent 24/7 that can take action on your behalf to help you “manage your digital life”. This includes integration with Gmail, Docs, and other Workspace apps, as well as third-party services. It will be available next week in beta for Google AI Ultra ($100/month) subscribers on the Gemini app on Android, iOS, and the web.

Spark is coming to Gemini for MacOS this summer with the ability to “pull in your local files and automate workflows on your desktop.” we reported before. This will join the existing ability to use any of the open windows as a context for prompts.

A new audio experience will let you get confused, so you “don’t have to worry about all the ‘ums’ or ‘what abouts’ that happen when you think out loud.” When you long press the function key on your Mac, Gemini will show a new floating pill at the bottom of your screen.
