In the ramp up to I/O 2026, Google is working on adding one more advanced agent Gemini applicability. Now it looks like it will be branded as “Gemini Spark”.
About APK Insight: In this APK Insight post, we have decompiled the latest version of the app that Google has uploaded to the Play Store. When we decompile these files (called APK for Android apps), we can see various lines of code inside this token for possible future features. Please note that Google may or may not ship these features, and our interpretation of what they are may be imperfect. We’ll try to launch those closer to completion, but just to show you what they’ll look like if they ship. With that in mind, read on.
Google app beta version 17.23 today introduces the name “Gemini Spark” after previously calling it “Gemini Agent”. Its symbol is literally the comet-like spark of Gemini. (This is the second week in a row that Google has released two beta releases in the same week: 17.22 and 17.23.)
The more you use Gemini Spark, the better it understands you and what you want to achieve.
Behind the scenes, Gemini Spark will use “your data from sources like Connected Apps, skills, conversations, tasks, websites you visit, Personal Intelligence, location, and more.”
In addition, Gemini Spark may “share necessary information with third parties” as needed to perform a task: “This may include your name, contact information, files, preferences, and information you may find sensitive.”
Google explains that “Gemini Spark is experimental.”
“Although it is designed to ask for your permission before taking sensitive actions, it may share your information or make purchases without asking. Be sure to monitor Gemini Spark and do not rely on it for medical advice, legal, financial or other professional assistance.”
Meanwhile, Spark is already available for some testers. as part of revised program“Spark” will appear in the updated navigation box. This launches two tab-layout sections between “Chat” and “Agent”.
You create new tasks in Spark with a list of active ones and those scheduled to run at specified times. Example possibilities include:
- Clear your inbox: Summarize or archive newsletters and subscribe to email lists
- Get meeting information: Get quick overviews and relevant information before important meetings
- Get a personalized news collection: Dive deep into the stories you care about and watch them evolve
