LeBron James will be playing for the Miami Heat in the 2026/2027 season, at least if a personal video from the Miami Heat YouTube channel is to be believed. The official YouTube channel of the NBA team released a video called “LeBron James Introductory Press Conference” that specifically mentions the date of July 27, 2026.
A YouTube video marked as private was quickly delisted and removed from Google search results, but Bing yet shows the video (although you can’t really watch it).
With James being an NBA player of note, people would likely have seen the video if it had only been on Google for a few seconds. But Bing has made watching video very easy.
The basketball world is anxiously waiting for James to decide where he will play next season. NBA commissioner Adam Silver even said the league’s schedule could not be finalized until James announced his plans.
So Silver should finish the NBA schedule and post it now that the Miami Heat YouTube channel has released a video? Probably not. While it was always a possibility that James would return to Miami, the Heat organization claimed that the video was mistakenly released to the public by the team’s social media department.
A Heat spokesperson later clarified Anthony Chang of the Miami Herald said that the team made the video because of the possibility of James returning to Miami.
For the record, Miami has not denied that James will sign with the Heat or that the video is false. The spokesperson said that “the video is currently unverified” (Chiang paraphrasing what he was told).
However, it is normal for organizations to prepare for different scenarios. A more poignant example is that media outlets often write obituaries for key figures in advance.
We’ll have to wait and see if James decides to return to Miami next season or play elsewhere. In the meantime, we can see if there are any betting lines on his future signing based on the video that was mistakenly shared.
