Google confirms Nest Audio has discontinued Nest Mini

Out with the old, in with the new! Change is coming for all of us, and right now Google’s smart speaker lineup is feeling it most acutely. Today, the company is finally starting to accept pre-orders for the new Google Home Speakerfirst announced last year. With this new audio solution finally on the way, we’ve been curious to find out what happened to Google’s old speakers, and now we’re finally getting some answers.

As we continue to build the future of the smart home, we’re improving our portfolio of Google Home and Nest devices. As part of this evolution, we have discontinued the Google Nest Mini and Google Nest Audio.

It’s not like we didn’t see this move coming a mile away, but it’s still sad news if you’re an ardent fan of this old rig. Both Nest Audio and Nest Mini were recently launched is shown as “out of stock”. With Google’s online store and expectations that the Home Speaker is about to go on sale, it wasn’t hard to make a few assumptions about Google’s intentions with these devices.

Although it’s the next most recent release after our new Home Speaker, Nest Audio is still six years old, having launched in September 2020.

The Nest Mini first debuted in 2017 as the Home Mini, and in 2019 Google brought us the updated second-generation Nest Mini. Given how long both of these speakers have been around, it’s likely that anyone planning to pick one up has long since jumped on the opportunity. said that we still feel a lot of love for these devices – and apparently many of you still do.
