Google announced this today NotebookLM is now called “Gemini Notebook” and previews the upcoming features that users can expect soon.
It was introduced as a research tool at I/O 2023 The Tailwind project and then NotebookLM became closer to launch. Gemini Notebook is friendlier than having a “language model” in its name, while Google clearly ties the app to the core Gemini brand.
The current logo will be updated with a blue/purple Gemini gradient.
Gemini Notebook remains a “standalone product focused on being your first research tool,” but will now “do more within the Google ecosystem.”
There are laptops is already available in the Gemini app for organizing chats and gathering work. They will soon be available in Google Search’s AI mode.

Each notebook gets a secure cloud computer to write and execute code locally in a “comprehensive data analysis based on your sources” service. Google offers “completely new output formats and deeper analytics.”
This upgrade will be available to all Google AI Pro users on the web “over the coming weeks.”
Google also shared today that Gemini Notebook is currently used by more than 30 million people and more than 600,000 organizations.
