Quietly launching this week, Walmart is introducing its third camera as part of Google Home’s “Gemini build” program, with a new $35 outdoor wired camera.
It sells for just a quarter of the price of Nest’s closest competitor, The.com Walmart Onn Outdoor Camera Plug-in – in addition to being a mouthful – is the latest camera designed to work natively in the Google Home app. The camera follows last year’s trail closed cell and wired doorbellsold for about $23 and $45, respectively sometimes a lot little.
Walmart’s outdoor camera has a pretty simple design with a lever that can be used, just like the indoor camera, but with the addition of full-color night vision and built-in spotlights. It also has an internal cable designed to connect to a longer weatherproof USB-C cable. It is a similar design Some outdoor cameras from Wyze.
The 1080p camera integrates directly with the Google Home app with full setup as part of Home and cloud storage via Google Home Premium. Like the Nest cameras, there’s no local storage, and you need that subscription to get any real value from these cameras other than live view. If you there is Paying for Home Premium, Walmart’s new outdoor camera supports cloud-based event and recording history, Gemini-powered video imaging, and even Google’s new improved camera event automation.
Without a subscription, you get 3 hours of “snapshot” history, which is deleted after recording. Google Home Premium starts at $10 a month, but includes Google One AI Pro — which also includes 5TB of cloud storage for Drive, Gmail, and Photos, as well YouTube Premium Lite, Google Health Premiumand increased Gemini usage limits.
The Onn Outdoor Camera is now on sale for $34.87on shipping from both Walmart’s website and stores.
Note that After less than $20 earlier this year, Walmart seems to have brought its indoor camera back to its original price of $22.96.
