Google Home says it’s working on a fix for device delays

with Gemini is now becoming part of Google Home for users everywhere, you might think that the biggest challenge for users interacting with smart speakers and displays is getting the right answers from AI and avoiding embarrassing mistakes. While that’s definitely on our minds, yesterday we learned about a different issue that’s proving to be very frustrating in its own right. Google Home devices are lagging behind up to a minute before responding or timed out completely. The good news: Google is on the job.

one update posted Google’s Nest Community account to the Reddit thread where we first learned about the service outage:

We are aware of an issue causing increased latency or timeouts. We are working on a fix as soon as possible and will get back to you once this is resolved. Thank you for your patience.

Since then, no further update has been posted by the account, so while the company is aware of the issue and is actively working on a solution, it doesn’t appear to have been successfully implemented yet.

It’s a little frustrating, but we still appreciate the update and really look forward to the confirmation of the upcoming fix.
