Google Photos can provide silent Create an icon A bigger job to do, relying more on AI-generated edits and personalized content.
As detailed in the latest update, Google is adding a “New to you” section to the Create tab. The feature will automatically highlight things like collages, remixed images, animations and cinematic photos in a specific location.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because Google Photos already does this kind of editing with the Memories carousel. The only difference now is the organization. It looks like Google is integrating these AI-powered creations into the Create tab to make it easier to find without scrolling endlessly through Memories.
There are also tighter controls on the move. It looks like Google is merging preferences between the Memories and Create tab, so if you turn off auto-generated creation in one place, it will go somewhere else. This should make the experience less overwhelming for those who don’t want to see it AI generated edits constantly open in their gallery.
Google appears to be working on a new set of video editor filters, which also appear in the Accent video tools. The new filters are Aura, Linen, Amber, Thrift, Glow, Candy, Pacific, Reel, Petal, Warm and Silver.
The name alone suggests that Google is trying to make the editing experience more social media-friendly, most likely for those who want to make quick aesthetic tweaks without opening a dedicated editing app.
This is a growing topic in Google Photos lately. Once a cloud backup service, Google has slowly transformed the app into a lightweight creative platform packed with AI-powered editing tools, automatic improvements, and smart organization features.
If these features are widely adopted, the Create tab may finally be more than a rarely used menu buried in Google Photos. It can be the app’s central home for quick AI-generated content and quick video edits.
