Google just introduced a new way for Gemini to automate your daily tasks

Google launched Gemini Spark for Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US a few days later is announcing the feature at Google I/O 2026. While Gemini has been mostly about answering questions and creating content for the past few years, Spark is all about automation. This means that Gemini is always on, running in the background, and can handle everything in your digital life without waiting for you to tell it to.

Google describes Gemini Spark is like an AI agent that acts on behalf of the user, but it is always under the control of the user and runs 24/7. This feature is now a dedicated tab within the Gemini web experience, alongside the standard chat functionality.

Spark differs from other AI assistants due to its tight integration with the Google ecosystem. Can relate Google Workspace Apps like Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides typically handle tasks that require switching between multiple apps. Users can ask Spark to schedule meetings, manage invitations, search emails, summarize conversations, create documents, create spreadsheets, create presentations, and organize files.

Google also provides access to Spark-connected services, Personal Intelligence features, websites visited by users, and remote browser tools that can interact with web pages on their behalf. Sometimes Spark can browse websites, fill in data, and perform actions without the user having to click through each step.

According to the company, Spark uses cloud-based virtual machines running on Gemini 3.5, so tasks can continue to run even if the user closes their laptop or locks their phone. This background processing is a big part of Google’s offering for Gemini, making it more like a persistent digital assistant than a chatbot you open when you need it.

Currently, Gemini Spark is only available Google AI Ultra US-based subscribers make it one of Google’s most exclusive AI features. But if the launch goes smoothly, don’t be surprised to see the Spark become the model for the future of Gemini.
