After the last few beta tests weeks and monthGoogle has officially announced Messages today Notes and Trash can folder.
Notes was first previewed earlier this month along with other new Android features, but Google today announced the “launch Notes Make sure “the right person finds your message, when you need it” in Google Messages.
When you mention someone using @ in an RCS group chat, “they get a notification, even if the chat is muted.”
This helps everyone find and read messages that are relevant to them, which promotes greater participation in group discussions.
You can tag multiple people in a message, and Google lets you edit the “recipient’s saved name in real time” from the text field:
For example, replace “@ToddNextDoor” with “@Todd
Google also announced today Trash can folder that immediately replaces the Delete action with “Move to Trash”. There is also a quick “Undo” option.
Conversations in the trash are not emptied for 30 days. (It’s 7 days “to save space” on Android Go phones.) You can find the Recycle Bin under Archive in the profile menu in the top right corner. From here, there is:
- One-touch restore: If you’ve changed your mind, you can easily restore titles from the Trash folder to your main Inbox with a full history intact.
- General control: You can permanently empty the Trash at any time if you want it gone forever.
Despite being announced, we don’t see it becoming widespread yet.
