
A new leak shows the ability of Google Pixel phones to disable the built-in search bar that has been part of the Pixel Launcher for years.
Pixel Launcher is a clean and elegant experience for your Android home screen, but there are two main complaints that are understandable. For years, Google has had two parts of the home screen baked into the launcher without the user having any choice – the “At a Glance” widget and the search bar.
Google added Ability to remove One Look widget with Android 16and now it looks like the search bar is next.
Mystical Leaks shared A screenshot of what appears to be a leaked build of the stable release of Android 17 QPR1 – all of which is subject to change given the graphics at play here. With that in mind, this build introduces a new toggle that allows users to easily disable the search bar in Pixel Launcher.
The option appears in Pixel Launcher settings > Search bar settings > Show search bar. Turning this off removes the bottom search bar and brings your docked apps closer to the bottom of the screen.
Simply put, it’s not for everyone, but it’s a welcome change wants search bar at the bottom of their screen.
Google just released The second beta for Android 17 QPR1 will launch earlier this week, with the final release later this year. This is a stable release at this time probably in the right corner.
