
Google announced today it will allow publishers to determine whether their website is being seen and used by AI mode and AI Views independent of regular Search results.
Google is introducing a new opt-out link in the Search Console tool to identify whether a site is being used and used to assist with its core generative AI Search features.
Opting-out sites will not receive traffic or impressions from AI Views, AI Mode, or AI Views on Google Discover, but will continue to appear in regular Google Search results and the Discovery feed.
This setting only applies to those Google Search products, except for the Gemini app.
Google says that a site’s use of this disclaimer will not affect its appearance in regular Search. In particular, this control will not be used as a ranking signal.
In addition, Google provides website publishers with new generative AI Search statistics in Search Console. Insights include impression metrics, which pages appear in AI responses, and which countries.
Google reiterated today that AI Views now has 2.5 billion monthly active users, while AI Mode has more than 1 billion monthly users. This too increases The number of links that appear in AI results.
