Google’s busy week continues as a new security patch for Pixels rolls out, bringing a number of fixes for the latest firmware.
Android 17 launched this week, and Pixels are getting a June Drop loaded with features. Now, the June security patch details are provided With quite a few tweaks for Pixel phones. The update is rolling out to Pixel 6 and newer devices, listed as vCP2A.260605.012 for global units. Google’s extensive patch notes give us clues as to how to fix several of the “Display and Graphics” issues that have plagued Pixel phones over the past few months.
Two fixes in this category that are exclusive to the Pixel 10 series include the odd “white flickering dot” and “graphics glitches” during standard operations. The third graphic tweak is for the Pixel 8 series, Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. Google said it has developed a solution for device freezing that occurs when connected to an external display.
The Pixel camera has also been a problem for Pixel users recently. The Pixel 9 and 10 series are getting a fix for a system crash. Fixes for camera app freezes and crashes are also included in this patch. On the other hand, Pixel battery and power consumption issues continue to plague Google. Along with a fix for wireless and wired charging drivers that fail “during device setup” this month, the issue of slow wireless charging speeds should also be addressed.
In addition to two issues affecting app crashes and Backup settings, unstable audio was another focus for Google that is now being addressed.
Laundry list
As always, this Pixel patch is rolling out to users gradually. We might not all see it at the same time, so keep an eye out for it to land on your phone soon.
We went back to back now With patches targeting critical charging and display issues for Google’s Pixels. In May, slow wireless charging issues were a major concern for the company. At the time, users reported a slowdown between 75% and 80% battery. Interestingly, this same issue was also counted for issues affecting Pixels in June, meaning the issue has not been completely resolved.
I hope these fixes clear up everything else. Fuzzy, frozen and strange display artifacts were problematic for the Pixel 10 series in May.
On the bright side, Google’s June patch is coming together great Pixel Drop. It’s Android 17 finally hereand the company has started rolling out the new OS and these new Pixel features to the users. Bubbles and Bubble Bar are two new features for Pixels and Layers that offer a new way to easily multitask between apps. “Screen Reactions” allows you to superimpose a selfie video of yourself over the screen recording to simulate a green screen without any additional mechanism.
Android Central’s Take
Broad fixes can often follow Google’s Pixel Drops. I feel like it’s even more so now that Android 17 is here and any issues left over from the last few minutes of testing are fixed with it. It’s here for smooth sailing for Pixel users affected by crashes and bugs.
