TL;DR
- Two weeks after the release of Android 17 QPR1 Beta 4, Beta 5 becomes available to testers today.
- Although Beta 4 skipped Pixel 6 and 6 Pro support, they have now been included again.
- Google’s changelog consists mainly of bug fixes.
Last week was a big milestone for Android releases Android 17 is finally stable and is starting to roll out to Pixel devices everywhere. As we look forward to this release, testers are already gearing up for the next big update, with Google’s Android 17 QPR1 Betas giving them a taste of the changes to come with the September Feature Drop. after QPR1 Beta 4 landed two weeks ago, Google is now ready to move to QPR1 Beta 5.
Mishaal Rahman of Google shares the good news Confirms that CP31.260608.007 on X is included for testers on Pixel 6 and later devices. This is important because last time the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro were expressly excluded – although Google has promised that we’ll see support for older models return with this new release.
As you’d expect from Beta 5, Google is mostly in cleanup mode at this point, which means a lot of bug fixes. Here are the posts Google expects:
- An issue with the Game Dashboard where users cannot stop screen recordings or save video files. (Release #296368569, Release #328539170)
- An issue where the camera app temporarily freezes or stutters shortly after opening from idle. (Release #330488811)

- A timeout issue where Download Manager fails to complete downloads when disconnected from an active VPN connection. (Issue #475985649)

A very nice change Rahman confirms adding a new “Don’t ask me” link when turning on mobile data:

If you want to try the QPR1 for the first time, you can get started by registering your Pixel device with Google. Android Beta Program.
On the other hand, if you’ve tested Android 17 Beta and prefer to flash to the stable without wiping all your device’s data, Google warns that no Install QPR1 Beta 5 and proceed to exit the program instead.
