The Google Home app has taken over most Nest users, but if you still prefer to access older devices via the Nest app, a widespread outage has disrupted functionality for many.
For the past 5 years, the Google Home app has been replacing the Nest app. At this point, the vast majority of Nest devices are supported in the main Google Home app. Late last year, Google Home introduced the ability to mass import older Nest devices.
However, anyone trying to access the old Nest app right now may run into issues.
Nest users report Reddit threads and DownDetector The Nest app says “There was a problem connecting to the Nest service. Please try again in a few minutes.” The problem seems to affect both iOS and Android apps and has been going on for a few hours now.
The Nest status dashboard does not report any problems.
Google has yet to acknowledge the issue, but we’ll update this article as more details become available.
