Tis the season for gaming showcases and Meta Quest second only to May. We got it first Creature Feature showcase in early May, and now the father-and-son VR podcast duo has unveiled its second annual Ruff Talk VR Gaming Showcase, with more than two announcements and an update trailer to excite Meta Quest players.
While I have many favorites from the show, one announcement really struck a chord with me. The full showcase is in the video below, followed by my favorite highlights. Get ready to have some fun!
Walkabout Mini Golf: Homestar Runner Expansion Pack
If you’re a millennial like me, you’ll no doubt remember Homestar Runner from the days of Macromedia Flash. It’s a hilarious cartoon full of memes galore (everyone knows Burninator Trogdor, right?) and now it’s heading to Meta Quest in a special Walkabout Mini Golf pack.
But this not new course. Instead, it’s called The Homestar Runner Distraction Pack and includes:
- 6 activities to play and conquer!
- Best hangout: Strong Bad’s basement
- 18 collectable lost balls
- Special shooters to win
- Unique avatars and a custom cannon track to guide your favorite characters
- Unlockable pit holidays
- (More to come)
I don’t know what the “more” part is yet, but it launches on June 25th, so you have a month to save up a few bucks for the DLC. Walkabout DLCs range from $2 to $5, so we’re not talking about a lot of money. Either way, I’m excited to see the Homestar Runner cast in VR, and it might be my favorite update since Wallace & Gromit. from two years ago.
Sky legends
This it’s actually out nowit’s always a blast when you first hear about what looks like an impressively polished, immersive narrative adventure. Build planes, do some scouting, and make history in this 1920s VR title.
Survive the night
I have no idea why Survive the Night doesn’t have a trailer, but I don’t need much convincing to get interested in The Binary Mill’s next game. If you’re not familiar with the developer’s name, they’re the guys behind Quest hits like Gun Club VR, Mini Motor Racing X, Into Black, and Resist. Survive the night is a free to play 4 player survival game coming soon. wish list now.
Cave Crave Multiplayer update
Cave Crave went viral on social media a few months ago because it can take players on an adventure that 99.9% of them would never be able to do (or even want to) in real life. Cave diving can be extremely dangerous, as the Nutty Putty cave game proves, and now you can join your friends. new multiplayer update making things even more real without all the real dangers.
Knights of Fiona
From the developers of Ruinsmagus comes a new VR JRPG full of polish and character. The showcase featured a new trailer, giving a deeper look at the gameplay, characters and world ahead of more previews coming next week.
You can play it yourself if you’re at BitSummit in Kyoto, Japan from May 22nd to 24th. Otherwise, expect to see some hands-on videos on YouTube and wish the game now before its full release.
And there’s more to see in the showcase at the top of this article, so check it out and let us know what your favorite announcement is!
