What you need to know
- Rumors about Samsung’s next big tablet, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, claim to be slowing down with major upgrades.
- The tablet can agree with the same cell inside the Tab S11 Ultra, which debuted at 11,600mAh with 45W charging support.
- Android Central rated the Tab S11 Ultra quite highly, but some areas, such as RAM totals and the keyboard, could be better.
In case you’re wondering, we expect Samsung to release its next wave of Galaxy tablets this year, but rumors about its next Ultra battery have been incredibly quiet.
A report earlier this week Galaxy Club (Netherlands) claimed that Samsung is working on a Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra that could play it safe (via GSMArena). To begin with, the publication is skeptical of a battery upgrade later this year. According to his research, the article claims that the Tab S12 Ultra has a battery cell similar to what consumers have received. Tab S11 Ultra.
With that in mind, it’s said to be “very unlikely” for the Tab S12 to get any increase in battery capacity. If true, it means the tablet will continue to have an 11,600mAh battery. Plus, Samsung could once again pair it with 45W wireless charging support.
Additional rumors suggest that the Tab S12 Ultra will sport the same 14.6-inch display as its predecessor. Moreover, rumors suggest that Samsung will introduce A UI 9 firmware (Android 17) when it debuts later this year. Expectations put the tablet on sale in the second half of 2026, possibly in late August/September, like Samsung’s 2025 versions.
Let’s go beyond Ultra
Tablets have come a long way, but in our review of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, it’s tough. to see another product that beats it. Android Central’s Andrew Myrick calls the Ultra a 15-inch screen, premium design, S Pen, and expandable memory. Moreover, although it omits one of the selfie cameras, the device is quite thin. The big question was: How could Samsung have done better?
Andrew’s main complaint was Samsung’s reluctance to give more RAM to its other variants. Another area of improvement is more focused on accessories, as Andrew brings up the keyboard attachment. The keyboard is quite poor and can often result in typos or incorrect entries. We’ll have to wait and see if Samsung looks at these areas for meaningful improvements. However, it’s the price that we’re also thinking about right now.
Samsung had more A handful of price hikes in the US. earlier this year and it worried us. The 1TB Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra saw the biggest price increase, jumping $280 to $1,899. If the Tab S11 Ultra is where it currently sits, is this a new starting point for the Tab S12 Ultra?
Android Central’s Take
I have to agree with Andrew. I enjoyed what Samsung brought to the Tab S11 Ultra. Even Plus wasn’t bad. The devices were clean, crisp and beautiful One UI. If we think at the performance level, more RAM would be good. However, as Andrew pointed out, there is always that difference between RAM/storage options. Higher storage devices always bring higher (more attractive) RAM numbers. Also worth noting is the state of the world regarding RAM and AI. It might be worth keeping our hopes up.
