When it comes to action cameras, GoPro has held a high position in the industry for a long time. Rival insta360 has a solid position in the market, and the company’s upcoming X6 camera could reduce GoPro’s lead.
New leaked images of the Insta360 X6 surfaced a few days later thanks to Mauro Tandoi, who leaked the camera today. application for a new camera seen on the internet. As reported WinFutureleaked images show a more compact body than the X5 and a more traditional action camera silhouette. All told, the X6 looks more GoPro-like than Insta360’s previous offerings. It’s still a classic Insta360 though, with dual camera sensors placed behind a fisheye lens on the front and back, and a status display for quick settings.

The leaked specs show some pretty impressive tech inside the X6 with 8K resolution at up to 50fps in 360 mode. By comparison, the X5 was limited to just 30 frames per second.
But of course, because this is 2026 and now everything is more expensiveThe Insta360 X6 will reportedly see a price hike compared to its predecessor. According to WinFuture, retailers say the X6 itself will start around $800, while an “essential package” with as-yet-unknown accessories will add about $100 to the bill. In general, considering the cost of camera components, the price increase makes sense, and in many cases, the product simply gets more expensive when it’s more compact.
There’s still no expected release date for the X6, but it could be coming at the right time: Camera company GoPro is in a tight spot right now, having filed for bankruptcy. earlier this week. GoPro CEO Nicholas Woodman reportedly bought $20 million worth of company stock to keep it afloat for now. Woodman said he would be open to a sale or merger if the right buyer comes along.
At $800, the X6 won’t exactly be affordable for your average consumer, but if GoPro is no longer available, it might be more attractive to potential action camera buyers.
