Instagram "Instants" is launching, and it's basically Snapchat

Instagram is expanding its list of social apps again, this time with Instants, which mimics the core of Snapchat.

Available nowInstagram Instants is a special app for what are known as “Snaps”. It was functional previously baked into messages is an Instagram section and is designed for quick, instant sharing. Although it wasn’t the most popular practice, that’s probably part of the reason it was split into its own app.

The Instants app lets you sign in with your Instagram account and opens directly to the camera. You can send those moments to your friends and after 24 hours the photos will disappear.

Everything shared in Instants can also be viewed in the main Instagram app. This new experience is available in both Android and iOS (depending on the region), it’s just a special and faster way to exit. Everything is very reminiscent of Snapchat.
