If you’re an iPhone user who wants more AI editing tools in the Photos app, we’ve got good news. With iOS 27, Apple will update the app’s Edit window and add three new AI-powered editing tools. reports Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Just to jog your memory, the Edit window in Apple’s native software Photos program currently offers options like Adjust, Filters, Crop and Cleanup. With an upcoming overhaul Clean up will reportedly move to a new division called Apple Intelligence Tools, where it will join new contributors to the Extension, Enhancement, and Reframe.
Extend, as the name suggests, allows users to expand a photo beyond its original boundaries by creating appropriate content. Users can, for example, click on an image of a landmark and use the Expand feature to add additional scenery around it. Gurman says they will be able to manipulate the artificial part by manually expanding or shrinking the edges of the image.

Enhance does a simpler job. It uses artificial intelligence to automatically adjust color, lighting, and image quality. Apple Photos already offers a similar option under Edit > Adjust. Auto, the first tool here, automatically adjusts the lighting in an image, and it’s unclear how Enhance will differ.
Eventually, Gurman says Apple will add a tool called Reframe. It is primarily designed for 3D spatial photography and allows users to change the focal point of the image. For example, a photo showing the front of a car can be edited to show its side.

The company already under pressure to deliver the Siri features it promised two years ago. Apple’s main focus at this year’s WWDC, scheduled for June 8-12 improved Siri and improve overall performance, adds Gurman.
