In celebration of America’s 250th birthday, a giant time capsule was buried with numerous items from each state to commemorate the current era — one of which was the iPhone 17 Pro Max in Space Orange. The time capsule is scheduled to be opened in 2276 for America’s 500th anniversary.
Whether or not this will actually work after the iPhone celebrates its 500th anniversary in 2276 remains to be seen. As many have pointed out, the battery is most likely dead by then.
However, if it works in any way – there are some “digital artifacts” on the phone that people will be able to view in the Notes app until then.
The iPhone is less than 20 years old, so it’s hard to imagine what the technology will look like in 250 years. For all we know, we may be past physical devices and onto neural implants, or something unimaginable today.
