Microsoft and Xbox have various first-party titles for their console and PC gaming ecosystem. Halo: The campaign has evolved redo, Playground Games‘ Forza Horizon 6 and Fairy taleand Gears of War: E-Day represents some of the brand’s biggest upcoming games of 2026, as well as some of the year’s biggest games overall.
Indeed, almost everything Xbox Game Studios has in the pipeline looks promising, if you ask me. But are there any titles in the publisher’s portfolio that stand out as something that particularly catches your eye?

Led by Interplay founder Brian Fargo, InXile is building one of the boldest RPGs in recent memory with Clockwork. Indeed, Fargo calling it “the most complex game I’ve ever worked on”. and then he continued to say it’s the studio’s “most ambitious title, probably by a factor of 10”.
Where InXile aims to break new ground for RPG design with Clockwork Revolution is its reactivity, as the developer plans to change its main setting – the steampunk dystopian city of Avalon – while dealing with time travel mechanics, as well as incredibly deep levels depending on the actions and choices you make and make during the adventure.
Little has been said about the game’s specifics, but we do know that it will be extremely crisp and systems-driven; I expected it to be comparable to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 or Baldur’s Gate 3 in that way. It will also feature rich character creation options and tons of content, with “about 30% more content than any player can see in a single game.”
As an RPG enthusiast, everything we’ve heard about Clockwork Revolution so far has made it my most anticipated new game out there. Subway 2039so it’s great that Matt Booty listed it as one of the most featured upcoming Xbox games and thinks development is going well.
It doesn’t have a release date yet, but a later 2026 release is a real possibility, especially a leak last year pointed to one. I’m sure we’ll get a concrete date to look forward to during this year’s Xbox Games Showcase.
Do you agree with me (and Matt Booty) that Clockwork Revolution stands out as one of the most exciting new games on Xbox, or are you just not really interested in InXile’s RPG? Share your result below and vote in our poll too.
