Apple’s CEO will be Tim Cook step down It enters into force on September 1, 2026. Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus has long been rumored to be Apple’s new CEO.
Although Cook will no longer serve as CEO, he will remain in a different role at the company as executive chairman.
“As executive chairman, Cook will assist in certain aspects of the company, including communications with policymakers around the world,” Apple said.
In a statement, Cook had his usual positive words about his tenure as CEO:
Being the CEO of Apple and being trusted to lead such an extraordinary company has been the greatest privilege of my life. I love Apple with all my being and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with such a brilliant, innovative, creative and deeply caring team of people who are unwavering in their dedication to enriching our customers’ lives and creating the best products and services in the world.
Ternus added in the announcement: “I am humbled to step into this role and pledge to lead with the values and vision that have come to define this special place for half a century.”
