Every week we take a look at what people are working on in KDE Plasma. Well, given how open source KDE Plasma is, it’s not really a “preview” and you can just go to GitHub and check out what everyone is working on. However, we feel like we’re getting a special look behind the curtain to see what we can expect from future releases, so it’s close enough.
Apparently, the KDE community is still pushing ahead with adding features to Plasma 6.7, and one of the most interesting ones is related to Intel chips. If you have an Intel laptop, you may find that KDE Plasma will not only perform better, but also drain your device’s battery less.

The KDE community has released a new This week in the Plasma post on the official website. The most notable feature in this week’s post is for KDE Plasma 6.7, which will enable “overlapping planes” functionality for Intel GPUs. As the apps and games you use play nicely with overlapping planes, you should see them run better and use less of your battery, which sounds great.
Additionally, the Flatpak store Discover is also getting a bit of an update. If you thought Discover was easy enough to use, KDE Plasma 6.7 will make it even easier to navigate:

Discover no longer disables the Learn More button on list items for ongoing updates. (Tobias Fella, WHERE Bugzilla #431719)
KDE Plasma 6.7 will also fix a nasty bug where the desktop environment would constantly pester you with warnings if auto-updating a Flatpak app introduced a compatibility issue. Now the alarm should sound only once.
