Life360 and Uber have launched an integration allows parents to request and coordinate Uber rides for teens and other family members directly within the Life360 app. Parents can tap a family member’s real-time location on the Life360 map and pick-up details will auto-populate in the Uber app. Trip progress is visible on both platforms.
Uber’s 13- to 17-year-old teen accounts have completed tens of millions of rides in more than 50 countries since its launch in 2023. Only highly rated, experienced drivers who have passed a highly rated, multi-step security check, including a vehicle registration and criminal background check, can accept requests from teenage account holders. Parents receive real-time notifications and trip tracking.
“Teens make more trips to the mall, movie theaters, sports camps, and other public places during summer vacation, with more than 40% of teen outings occurring while many parents are still at work.“said Margarita Peker, Uber’s Head of Family Verticals.
Life360 has approximately 97.8 million monthly active users in over 180 countries. The company is positioning itself as a “family super app” by integrating third-party services into its location-sharing platform. Uber is aggressively expanding its platform through collaboration between autonomous vehicles, delivery and now family coordination.
The integration will be implemented from June 18 in selected markets. It works on iOS and Android. Life360 has faced scrutiny before rather than selling location data to millions of users, it’s a remarkable context for a feature that now connects real-time teen locations directly to a ride service.
