Meta launches “Plus” plans for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp

Meta is introducing several new paid subscription plans for a number of its services. The company has announced new Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus plans that add more features to each app. It is also testing paid subscriptions for Meta AI.

As reported TechCrunchNaomi Gleit, head of Meta Product, announced the new offerings a video published this afternoon. Gleit doesn’t go into pricing details, though TechCrunchPlans for Meta’s individual apps cost $3 to $4 per month, while the company will test AI plans that cost $8 to $20 per month, the report said.

In the US, Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus will cost $4 a month each. According to the report, subscriptions will be targeted at power users, giving subscribers greater control over who sees their content, as well as a better understanding of who their posts are reaching. The $3 WhatsApp Plus plan “focuses on personalization and messaging” with additional themes, exclusive stickers and more slots for pinned conversations.

These plans won’t replace Meta Verified, which offers identity verification and anti-spoofing (among other features) for between $15 and $500 per month.

In Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia, Meta AI will begin testing plans called Meta One Plus and Meta One Premium next month. The two plans, which reportedly cost $8 and $20 per month in the US, appear to have the same features, though the Premium offering has higher usage limits. Core Meta AI functionality will remain free for now.

Later this week, Meta also plans to conduct public testing of two additional Meta One plans, Essential and Advanced, in select markets outside the US. Plans are tailored to influencer profiles and include both Verified status and exclusive features to help grow your audience.
