These devices can potentially experience unexpected shutdowns, poor performance, increased heat and battery drain.
The good news is that the June preview update required users to sign in, so those with affected machines could choose not to download it. The bad news is the July update not is optional and contains all the code from the June preview update. If Microsoft releases the July update to the public, it will cause chaos for people who own the affected models.
So Microsoft made the very smart decision to hold off on the July update for affected Dell devices until they publish a fix. This means that if you own a Dell device, you can safely run Windows Update without worrying about your computer intercepting the failed update.
