The Start menu could also be faster and more responsive under heavy load.
It seems that after years of complaining about the Windows 11 Start menu (and most of those complaints come from me), Microsoft finally plans to give it the TLC it deserves. We already know that Microsoft plans to fix these weird Start menu search results you get from time to time, but it seems that the company is not over yet. A recent report claims that the Redmond giant will be adding a lot of customization options to the Start menu so that you can truly make it your own.
I really hope that is true
As reported Windows CenterCiting “sources familiar with the plans,” Microsoft is rolling out the big guns with its Start menu. For starters, sources claim that Microsoft will let you choose between a large and small Start menu layout. Right now, Windows 11 will automatically pick the dimensions you like best, and there’s no way to change it, so this is a welcome tweak.
The changes will finally allow you to adjust the sections in the Start menu. Anyone who uses Windows 11 and doesn’t like certain sections of the Start menu will know the pain of deleting every app in a section, only Windows 11 doesn’t have any option to delete it completely. If this report is to be believed, you can remove sections like the Recommended section with a few clicks.
Finally, the report claims that Microsoft wants to make the Start menu “faster and more responsive.” This covers times when the computer is under a lot of stress, meaning you’ll always have quick and easy access to the Start menu, even if your computer is doing some heavy lifting.
There is no time frame as to when this feature will roll out, and given that it is based on a report from inside sources, it is wise to take it with a grain of salt. But boy, I hope this report is real.
