Some other examples mentioned by Booty include South of midnight dev Compulsion Games uses Activision’s Mo Cap studio, Sea of Thieves creator Nadir is helping Double Fine’s inevitable pottery feud ovenStory tools and in-game store technology shared between RPG developers Minecraft for Microsoft flight simulator for Starfield.
Gears of War’s The Coalition is also working with the Unreal Engine, which benefits several Xbox studios, and Booty says that effort is at the heart of a team called “XGTG” — the Xbox Games Technology Group, which is “a center of excellence around Unreal Engine work.”
“It’s a group that really has a center of excellence around Unreal Engine work and then takes that out and presents it to other studios,” he said. “They’re not brought in to work on games, and they’re not a firefighting team. They’re developing the technology, but they’re packaging it in a way that’s very easy to hand off to other studios.”

We hope the “culture of cultures” continues to make development smoother for all Xbox Game Studios.
