TL; DR
- Samsung didn’t produce many Galaxy Z TriFold devices, and after the last call, the innovative foldable device is officially sold out.
- Rumors point to a successor to the Galaxy Z TriFold in the works, with a redesigned hinge that could reduce the thickness and weight of the device.
- While the new hinge design is rumored to hit the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 first, a less advanced version may appear on the Flip and Fold models.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is an attractive and expensive foldable in a short time it became a product of limited use For Samsung. The company held a last call sale for the Galaxy Z TriFold earlier this month, and today, April 17, the foldable device is officially on sale. Samsung’s official Galaxy Z TriFold landing page It confirms that “the limited-run Galaxy Z TriFold is now completely sold out,” directing buyers to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Galaxy S26 Ultra instead. While the short-lived foldable device with a 10-inch built-in display isn’t available right now, a successor is already rumored.
Early signs pointed Galaxy Z TriFold It’s a one-and-done for Samsung, but now rumors point to a Galaxy Z TriFold 2 in the works. Specifically, leaker Lanzuk (yeux1122) claims that the second-generation Galaxy Z TriFold model has been developed with a redesigned hinge. While we don’t know exactly what Samsung might be working on for the new Galaxy Z TriFold hinge, we do know that our goal is to make the next model thinner and lighter.

Samsung has broken major foldable thickness and weight barriers with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which is 8.9mm thick when folded and weighs just 215g. At 12.9mm thick and weighing 309 grams, the Galaxy Z TriFold was huge by comparison. Of course, this can be explained by the Galaxy Z TriFold’s dual-hinged design and larger 10-inch main screen. However, it’s clear that if TriFold phones are ever to make it to the mainstream, they’ll need to get thinner and lighter — and that starts with the hinge design.
The rumor claims that Samsung plans to port this updated hinge design to the yet-to-be-confirmed Galaxy Z TriFold 2. He also predicts that Samsung will introduce a slightly improved hinge with “some technical tweaks” to the regular Galaxy Z Fold models. This could make the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold or Galaxy Z Flip thinner than their predecessors, even without the completely overhauled Galaxy Z TriFold 2 hinge.
Since the Galaxy Z TriFold 2 is still in the rumor stage, it is unclear if it will ever be released. Or, if it will sport the “all-new hinge solution” that’s supposedly in development. There was a buzz around the Galaxy Z TriFold despite the high price, strong structure and limited production volumeso Samsung would do well to address these aspects of a potential successor.
