All these tweaks should make the Taycan easier to live with. E-Shift should make it more fun. The idea is simple: replicate the rowing semi-automatic transmission by changing the throttle and lift regenerative braking using the paddles on the steering wheel. Hyundai proved it with its Ioniq 5N that when done right, it can add an extra level of fun. Honda has taken a similar approach to its car S+ shift in the new Preludeand Ferrari has its own take on the concept electric Luce. (Although, when done inexpertly, it’s not so great – the Lexus RZ’s M mode it was boring.)
E-Shift is activated as an additional mode on the GT Sport steering wheel, and as in those other EVs, just don’t press the button unless you want to pretend you have a gearbox.
