this week, Fallout 4 I got quite a kick in the arm on the consoles new mod memory boost update — a patch that significantly expands the amount of space players can use to download and install mods Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
Originally, there was only 1GB that players could allocate modification Bethesda‘s 2015 open world RPG. After the patch, Xbox Series X|S users can now enjoy a whopping 100GB of storage for mods, while Xbox One, PS5and PS4 players now have 15 GB (latest generation hardware and Sony-imposed limits are responsible for smaller amounts here).
This 1GB limit was quite stifling for fans trying to use advanced overhaul-style mods, as well as mod authors who wanted to bring their larger projects to consoles. And now that’s a thing of the past – and so are the creators of one of the best and biggest Fallout 4 mods in recent memory used to bring it to Xbox.
This mod is like no other Misery IslandA large DLC-sized project developed by tenhats and shreddah4 originally released on PC last November. Thanks to a memory expansion patch, it’s now available on Microsoft’s consoles (though sadly not on PlayStation, as mentioned above). Sony restrictions that prevent installation of specific non-vanilla content). Check it out trailer for it below:
Misery Island takes you to a massive new world space with two full Settlements to manage and build, over 20 locations to explore, eight interior areas, and “many little points of interest hidden around the map.” It’s set in the real-world Desperation Islands in Massachusetts and features a lore-friendly questline complete with voiced characters.
As you adventure around the island, you’ll find special weapons, armor, and clothing, as well as new food types, resource crafting junk, and more. you will find. A skill check from Classic Fallout Games are also included while new random encounters and weather conditions keep the experience fresh. There’s even a new radio station and custom background music selection.
It’s no exaggeration to say that Misery Island is effectively an expansion of Fallout 4, offering players hours of content. Note that it requires the official Far Harbor DLC to run, so grab it if you don’t have it (you should anyway, because Far Harbor is great).
It is also the second chapter in the New England Islands series, following the first Boon Island — a smaller piece of content that may come to consoles at launch due to limited coverage.
It’s incredibly exciting to see a mod as large and ambitious as Misery Island come to Xbox, and I can’t wait to see other flagship projects make their way to the platform so that size isn’t an issue. The future is bright for Fallout 4 mods on consoles and especially Xbox.
Are you planning to check out the Misery Island mod in Fallout 4? Are you going to take advantage of all the new memory space console players have now for mods? Let me know.
