It will be easier to control the sound settings on your computer. The upcoming update to Windows 11 will provide more options on one page and reduce the number of clicks needed to change the sound of your devices.
Windows 11 Build 29613.1000 was recently released to Windows Insiders in the Experimental (Future Platforms) Preview Channel. The update improves the “All audio devices” page in the settings app.
Currently, that page just lists your output devices and input devices. To make changes, you need to click on the device and go to another page. Since the latest Insider update, that page lets you change your default device, control the volume of each device, and choose to hide or show disabled or disconnected devices.
He explained in detail the changes made in Microsoft build release notes:
- Continuing our previous improvements, we’re making a few more tweaks to Settings > System > Sounds based on your feedback. Namely, we’ve updated the All Audio Devices page to:
- You now have the option to change the default devices from this page.
- Each of the devices shown on this page has a little volume meter next to it to show whether the sound is actively playing or not.
- We’ve tweaked the page design a bit so that you can now filter whether you’re looking at input or output devices.
- We’ve added links so you can choose whether to hide or show inactive, disconnected, and disconnected devices on this page.
- We’ve also updated the input and output audio properties page for devices in Settings to now include jack information for those who need it.
Microsoft has shipped three more Insider builds alongside Build 29613.1000, although they are minor updates. They mainly focus on bug fixes and minor changes.
Microsoft Windows has overhauled the Insider Program recently. The channel structure now feels more linear and progresses in a way that feels natural.
The newly created Experimental Channel allows Insiders to test “Future Platform” builds of the OS, which focus more on platform changes than new features. The regular Experimental and Beta Channels have more forward-looking features.
Users will also be able to bypass A/B testing and access the newest features available through their channels.
Microsoft is still transitioning to the new structure, so some options are not currently available.
