Between swings from high at CinemaCon last night New Day and Beyond the Spider-Verseand wild of course Bloody cartoon News, Sony took a moment to return to Next with our first look at the sixth Insidious movie. Like jumpscares and creepy old man demons? So friends, here’s the trailer you.
Leaving the dangers of the Lambert family behind 2023 years The Red Gatethe latest Insidious movie, Later Out (with Patrick Wilson handing over the director’s chair to series newcomer Jacob Chase, who also wrote the screenplay) looks set to focus on new characters encountering the mysterious titular demon realm.
Later Out Amelia Eve as Gemma, a young single mother who one day discovers that her nightmares are actually awakenings of her power to enter and visit the Back. Unfortunately, except for Gemma and her young daughter, he learns to his horror that his powers don’t just allow him to go Far – whether he wants to or not, he lets the demons come back to reality with him from there. Uh-oh!
How it manifests itself more at first is a lot of creepy, depraved demons jumping around with a lot of classic horror movies – creepy legs suddenly appearing on the other side of the bed, heads popping out of places they shouldn’t be, etc. That first dentist chair splash is pretty good, but everything else is pretty vanilla. It may serve perfectly for the first viewing, but given the mixed critical response The Red Gateperhaps even greater horrors await the rotting arms of the full film.
