YouTube may still be the web’s best place for original video content, but in its two decades of existence, it’s grown to include many other types of media as well. In addition things like gamesYouTube also hosts posts: blog-like posts that allow creators to connect with their fans without having to upload a whole new video. We now have several different ways to access posts. Probably the most targeted is to open the creator’s community tab, but you’ll also find posts and subscription feeds scattered around your home. In YouTube’s latest feature experiment, the site shares that it plans to start prominently presenting posts interspersed with Shorts when you watch the mobile app.

In addition to seeing more posts placed between shorts, you may also see image carousels flip. YouTube actually started Testing images in shorts late last year, but it looks like the effort is about to get serious, including carousels of up to 10 photos you can browse.

Creators will be able to add music and text overlays to spice them up a bit, and hopefully mean a little more natural fit into their Shorts video content.

You won’t have a say in whether or not you’re included in the YouTube test, but the company is interested in feedback, so if this applies to you and you have feedback, be sure to let YouTube know. Google says this is just “the first of many updates… as we continue to expand the format,” so it looks like we’ll have more post surprises coming soon.
